Was (wer) ist gutter bracket - definition

THE SPACE BETWEEN PANES OF POSTAGE STAMPS THAT CREATES CONFIGURATIONS OF "GUTTER PAIRS" OR "GUTTER BLOCKS"
Gutter pair; Gutter block
  • Top 30 stamps of an 1898 Cuban sheet showing a typical vertical ''gutter margin'' that divided the sheet into two panes of 50 stamps each.

TREE DIAGRAM REPRESENTING ELIMINATION OF A KNOCKOUT TOURNAMENT
Tournament bracket; Bracket tournament; Competition bracket
A bracket or tournament bracket is a tree diagram that represents the series of games played during a knockout tournament. Different knockout tournament formats have different brackets; the simplest and most common is that of the single-elimination tournament.
Bracket polynomial
POLYNOMIAL INVARIANT OF FRAMED LINKS
Kauffman bracket; Kauffman bracket polynomial
In the mathematical field of knot theory, the bracket polynomial (also known as the Kauffman bracket) is a polynomial invariant of framed links. Although it is not an invariant of knots or links (as it is not invariant under type I Reidemeister moves), a suitably "normalized" version yields the famous knot invariant called the Jones polynomial.
Schouten–Nijenhuis bracket
BRACKET ON TOTALLY ANTISYMMETRIC MULTIVECTOR FIELDS DEFINING A GERSTENHABER ALGEBRA
Schouten bracket; Nijenhuis-Schouten bracket; Schouten algebra; Schouten-Nijenhuis algebra; Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket
In differential geometry, the Schouten–Nijenhuis bracket, also known as the Schouten bracket, is a type of graded Lie bracket defined on multivector fields on a smooth manifold extending the Lie bracket of vector fields. There are two different versions, both rather confusingly called by the same name.

Gutter (philately)

In philately, a gutter is the space left between postage stamps which allows them to be separated or perforated. When stamps are printed on large sheets of paper that will be guillotined into smaller sheets along the gutter it will not exist on the finished sheet of stamps. Some sheets are specifically designed where two panes of stamps are separated by a gutter still in the finished sheet and gutters may, or may not, have some printing in the gutter. Since perforation of a particular width of stamps is normal, the gutter between the stamps is often the same size as the postage stamp.

Several derivative terms exist:

  • Gutter pairs are two stamps separated by a gutter.
  • Gutter block is a block of at least four stamps where either the vertical or horizontal pairs, or both, are separated by a gutter.
  • Gutter margin is a margin dividing a sheet of stamps into separate panes.
